WILL OUR COUNTRY MAKE IT by Elder Lin Brown Psa 9:17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.Mark 6:12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.Luke 13:3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;Acts 5:31b for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.Acts 11:18b Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Acts 26:20 But showed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.2 Cor 7:9&10 Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.2 Tim 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;2 Pet 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. The complete question is this; Will our country make it without repentance? Or have we come to the point that Nineveh of old came to, when the prophet Jonah was sent to it. (Jonah 3:4-10 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not). It seems to be that God demands repentance from everyone, even His election of grace. He will do nothing without it and dare we think that He would lower His standard for this idolatrous nation. Remember it was His purpose to grant repentance to such a wicked city as Nineveh, which probably far out weighed the sins of this nation. Nevertheless he still demanded and granted repentance from them.I think He demands no less from this nation, although it remains to be seen whether He will grant repentance unto it or not. You and I as the elect of God living in this nation must cry out to God day and night to grant the leaders of this nation and the people of this nation repentance unto life. Let us not be like the heathen including the religious heathen and think that God can and will bless the USA without repentance from its notions of idolatrous pluralism and state sponsored murder of unborn babies. This is a nation of wickedness against a Holy God and in great need of repentance and it will not repent unless God grants repentance. You and I as those who can see this truth should make it our utmost concern to pray to the Lord to grant national repentance starting at the top and with the most deadliest sin of all - forgetting the Living and True God. |
