PRAYER

by Elder Lin Brown

Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Mark 11:24 & 25 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses

Luke 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.

Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Luke 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

Rom 8:26& 27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

1 Th 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

James 5:13a Is any among you afflicted? let him pray.

Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Our Scriptures inform us to always pray. We are not the only ones who pray as we can plainly see on the media, there are millions of Muslims praying today, a vast number who are praying for our destruction. Does our God hear their prayers? You bet He hears them , but in a beneficial way -never. The god they pray to is an invention of their imagination who is energized by the subordinate power of Satan. He is a god like all of the false gods of the Bible who is powerles to deliver his people. But there are other people who pray and they are much closer to us than any Muslim, they are the many Arminian Christians around us, most of whom today aren’t even praying a real prayer, but are praying the Prayer of Jabez a little known person of the Bible. They too are praying to an invention of their own imagination who is powerless before other false gods and especially before the One Living and True God. Hopefully we are praying and praying to the Lord God in the Name of Jesus Christ through the enablement of the Holy Ghost. In such trouble times as these, we should be constantly before the Lord on our knees and with heads bowed in humble dependence on the Him for our peace and safety. You and I as children of God can not expect our strength and courage to face each new day and its share of trouble to come from any other source than the Lord. Let us always pray and never faint. Also may we be enabled to be watchful for all the saints, remembering that we are not alone. May we all be enabled by the Holy Spirit to pray at all times about all things. Never let us think anything is too small to pray about. Remember one of our Scriptures said the disciples asked the Lord how to pray. The Lord in answer to that, gave us what is now known as The Lord's Prayer, but which is really the model pray. He said pray like this, but don't pray this prayer only. Pray with the Kingdom in our heart, pray that the Lord will give us our daily bread, pray that He will keep us from the evil that is all around us, pray that He will not lead us into temptation, and pray that He will forgive our sins. When you don't know what to pray about, pray anyway ,remembering that the Holy Ghost will make intercession for us. Dear ones pray without ceasing.
