                                                   JUDGMENT

                                               by Elder Lin Brown

2 Chr 20:9 If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.

Psa 9:16 The LORD is known by the judgment which he executeth: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

Psa 37:30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.

Prov 28:5 Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

Eccl 8:5&6 Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.

Zep 3:5ff The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.

Mal 2:17 Ye have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the LORD, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment?

Mal 3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

1 Pet 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

Rev 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

I am constantly amazed every time when I hear one of the so-called clergy say that the events of 9/11 and the subsequent occurrences of Anthrax in the mail and elsewhere are in no way the judgment of God. There does not seem to be one true voice among them that can even acknowledge the least involvement of God in these events. If I don’t look at what is so apparent to the children of God and I don’t look into the Word of God for my understanding of things, I will probably end up at the same place they are in. Proverbs 28:5 says that evil men do not understand the judgment of God but Psalms 37:30 says that the mouth of the righteous talks of judgment. Zephaniah 3:5ff tells us that every morning the Lord brings His judgments to light and boy does He ever. Those of us who are of the light and walk in the light of God’s Word greet every new report of terrorist threats with the reality that the judging hand of God still rest on this land and we face the reality that the Lord may have even greater events in store for the benefit of those who continue to say He has nothing to do with judgment. I say to them read your Bibles and shut your lying mouths. In a very real sense they are like false prophets of old who prophesied peace to the nation of Israel when there was no peace, because the Lord held the nation in His judgment. While they don’t necessarily prophesy peace, they do something a lot worse, they speak in the Lord and deny one of His chief attributes-judgment, in favor of their false idea of another of His attributes, love. There is no choice for the child of God between a God who judges wickedness and a god who loves everybody and wishes no one harm. For those who know their Bibles they know that both attributes dwell together side by side in the Living God. He is the God who gives the ultimate blessing, eternal life and also imposes the greatest judgment-eternal damnation. Now as we no longer live in security and assurance of even living a day longer, we must turn again to the Truth that our God is sovereign and He does whatever He wills in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants on earth. If that is the case and it certainly is, then lest us bow before the Sovereign King and say Thou will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
