Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

1 Pet 5:8 & 9 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

This is a long list of scriptures , but each one important in its own right. The apostle Paul commands us to put on as part of the armour of God -the shield of faith. This shield is said to be able to quench all of the fiery darts of the devil. The apostle Peter tells us that we are to resist the devil in the faith . Have you ever wondered exactly what these fiery darts were? I might suggest that if you have wondered about that, then you have probably been hit by them. It is the shield of faith that is to quench the fire in those darts. They are things that the devil uses to either to tempt our minds to stray from the Holy God or they are things that the devil uses to cause us to focus on the physical circumstances and not see by faith the spiritual reality. They are the doubts and fears and yes even the questions that arise, that show our black heart of distrust of the purpose of God for His child. They are fiery because left to burn they will inflict grievous pain and sorrow. The shield of faith will repel any and all of those fiery darts before they find there mark. Apply this to your daily situation whatever it may be. That it is a shield of faith, implies that it is something that is ready at hand. So dear ones take up the shield of faith and stop those fiery darts before they hit.
