Is the Danger Over? by Elder Lin Brown Rom 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? To ask this question-is the danger over?- is to presuppose that we know what the danger is. Do we in fact know what the danger was and still is? Before September 11th 2001 there were those of us who felt that we were already in danger and that danger did not so much materialize in September 11 as it has in the days following that event. It was as the smoke cleared and the next day dawned and men gathered around microphones and once again began proclaiming their autonomy from the sovereign God that the real danger manifested itself. These were the old voices that asserted themselves more vociferously as Americans began to realize that they had survived the attack and fear turned to arrogant resolve to not be overcome by the wickedness of the evil people. The further we get from that day, the more the ugly serpentine head of liberalism raises its head higher and higher and the language of rights and privileges is heard louder and louder. The days immediately following the attack there was a cry that we were all united and America was one and there were no liberals and no conservatives, just Americans. My how quickly that became perverted to mean whatever the speaker wanted it to mean. Psalm 9:17 says that "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God". That is the eternal word of the eternal God Who changes not. Yes , the danger still remains that this country will be weighed in the balances and found wanting. As you listen to the voices all around us that give evidence that this nation takes no thought of the true and living God, know that this will not be blessed of the Lord, but quite the country bears evidence that His judgment still abides upon this nation. You and I as the people of the Living and True God should not be taken by surprise nor lament the sure judgment of God. We can not with honest heart before the Lord say that this nation deserves the blessing of the Lord, but we cry out day and night for the Lord to be merciful to us, His people, and to protect us from all dangers whether it be from the terrorism that comes from foreign places in the name of jihad or whether it is the domestic terrorism of political liberalism and pluralism. We ask that He keep us from being given over to the blasphemy of seeing all gods as the same and all religions as good. The danger is real and it is present, but I John 4:4 says "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world".
