"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24"

SAFETY

by Elder Lin Brown

Psa 91:5-10 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;

Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.

These are great words of encouragement from the One who is in control of all things. They are not empty words of man who can not produce what he promises, but the very words of the All Powerful God . They were given in a time that His people and their leader were under the threat of attack from an overwhelming enemy. They are very timely for our day also. In this day as the threat to our way of life takes a more drastic form than ever we could have imagined, as more and more voices begin to report that terrorism has taken a more sinister form than even the suicide airplane attacks and we all begin to fear the specter of biological plagues, we do well to remember the words of this timely Psalm. Remembering again that these are not the empty and meaningless words of man but the words of our Lord and Savior Who is in control of, yes, even all these things. Notice the precise words destruction and plague, the exact terms that apply to our situation today. May the Lord grant you and I the ability to put our faith in what He says rather than in the fear of the predictions of the media. Yes, it will take great faith, but great faith is measured by something as small as a grain of a mustard seed, of which it was said, that it could move mountains. What we have in the passage above is the Word of God, if we can’t believe that, what else can we believe. We must resist the lies of the devil that say we will perish with the rest. Our Lord says no, though there be many casualities, There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. Fight the good fight of faith, soldier of Christ, He has already won all the battles and the war also. Looking away unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith.
